Sandringham Company of Volunteers: from the Royal Archives
During the First World War, approximately 650 Royal Household employees enlisted in the British Armed Forces. In fact one, company of soldiers consisted entirely of staff from the Sandringham Estate. They came to be known as the 'Sandringham Company of Volunteers'.

The Company did not return from the First World War and to this date, their fate remains unknown.
