Season's greetings from Alfred Hitchcock

Alfred Hitchcock and his family dispatched this festive telegram to Ivor Montagu, film-maker and co-founder of the London Film Society. The telegram was sent on 22 December 1939, shortly after the Hitchcocks had relocated from London to America. Montagu had been one of Hitchcock's close collaborators during the 1920s and 30s and had worked on films such as The Lodger, Downhill and The Man Who Knew Too Much.

Part of BFI Special Collections

In 2012 the BFI will be premiering its restorations of Hitchcock's nine surviving silent films. 'Happy New Year and love from us all'!
