A few more W.I.P pic diary updates after another long day on it.
Unfinished level crossing, still trying different ideas for the main gate brace. I've purposely left the planks 1 plate lower than usual for a level crossing, as I found some intermitent fouling occurred on my last layout when it was higher, so playing things safe with the height of this now.
These were motorised by 12v point motors. They worked extremely well at the perfect speed, the only problem was it was almost impossible to stop the weight of them sagging downwards when shut. I understand why the real things have such big braces now!!
So, all things considered with the amount of operation these would actually get at a show, the choice was made to have them static (no motors now)....they can still be posed open for photos.
