The Ingmar Tribute: Peterbilt 389 with TR11 Chemical Tanker (1:17 in Lego)
Our small group of Dutch scale modelers lost a good friend this month. Ingmar suffered from the terrible disease ALS, and regretfully could not attend events with us anymore the last months before he past away. At that time our group of friends decided to all make a special tribute model to him. Ingmar made a living from selling his Lego models and unique building instructions and we all chose one of his products to give it our own twist, as a tribute to be showed in October at Legoworld 2019 in The Netherlands. Ingmar was delighted and honored by this idea, and I showed him some work in progress pictures. He loved the concept. Regretfully he passed away a week before I finished this truck.
I took his “TR11” chemical tanktrailer, and added a fresh Peterbilt 389 tractor to it to make a nice combo. My tribute to Ingmar is in my own US custom style, and I gave the trailer new fenders, bumper and fully chromed the majority of the parts that were normally dark bluish grey. The tractor is a new built long wheelbase Peterbilt 389 lowrider with two Powerfunctions XL engines for drive, and one servo for steering. It is controlled by an SBrick and powered by a 9.6 Volt batterypack which is located in the sleeper unit. The truck (and trailer) have custom stickers, and a fully modeled enginebay and interior.
This truck and a few others will be on display at our Scale Modelers booth at Legoworld at a dedicated spot for Ingmar.
