Pier At Half Moon Bay

On the advice of the weatherman I drove up to Half Moon Bay California from Santa Cruz where I live to see the opening season of big surf at Maverick's. He said the waves would be big and the contest season was still not open yet. I prefer this time since the crowds would be light on a random tuesday and the temps and wind were perfect.

The result was big surf really far out to sea that it would take a huge lens to do it justice from the land. I would love to go out on a boat and shoot sometime. So, my few shots that turned out were heavily cropped and not very good. I posted a couple that came easy from the cliff and will try again when I have a boat reserved. Otherwise it was not worth the time. I recommend the spot to hike and sight-see but don't bother unless you have a 600mm lens and lots of time.
