The Calm

After a long wait, I made an effort to hike down to the ocean a couple miles north of my place.

The weather here has been unreal for the last month, hovering around sixty five in the day and clear of any fog.

The sunsets are amazing and this one was no different. The surf was small but clean and the haze was light as well as the wind.

My tendency is to walk around looking for a place to set up the tripod as i point and shoot my way around. Once I found the spot and unpacked the tripod I will tend to stay where I am during the sunset.

I hate the frantic running around trying to find the spot. So I set up near this rock formation and waited until the sun had reached the horizon before even pointing in the direction of it. My polarizer and Neutral Density filter made the exposure more even, although at the time, my outlook on the results were not good. I seemed to be overexposed alot. Still I kept shooting as i have learned that the display on the back of your camera had nothing to do with the final result.
