Sunset Sky and Autumn Aspens, Wyoming

Facebook | Twitter | Blog | Website

Last week during a workshop I co-led in the Tetons I was able to make this image at sunset. A controlled burn in Death Canyon left the valley filled with haze during the entire six days I was in the park. Here, colorful aspen trees on Shadow Mountain stand before the imposing Teton Range with colorful clouds in the sky overhead. Smoke from the fire is seen in the mid-ground as a bluish haze. Perhaps not ideal, but there wasn't a hell of a lot I could do about it.

Image created in RAW, imported to Lightroom 3.5 for initial editing and processed in Nik Viveza 2 and Color Efex Pro 3. Exported to Photoshop CS5 to clone out a photographer and size and sharpen for web.

If you're interested in a step-by-step tutorial of how I processed this image you can find it on my blog at: blog.bretedge.com/2011/10/10/the-making-of-an-image-sunse...
