Rain Fingers Above the Bonneville Desert, Utah

Facebook | Twitter | Blog | Website

Here's a photo from our recent trip to Oregon, made in the Bonneville Desert in Utah. I saw this hellacious storm in the distance and knew there was an opportunity for a photograph. I found this cracked mud playa and thought it made an interesting foreground. We pulled over, I jumped out and quickly set up my camera and tripod to make a few exposures while my 2 year old son pee'd about 10 feet away.

Photographed in RAW, imported to Lightroom 3 for initial editing, converted to b&w using Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 and optimized with Nik Color Efex Pro 3. Exported to Photoshop CS5 where I sharpened for web using Nik Sharpener Pro.
