The Recluse

078/365.

This is another photo from Alderley Edge with Lauren. In a way we both thought up this idea, but not together. A few days before this I'd been thinking of a photo based around the idea of a recluse, crouched in a cavern entrance where she'd took refuge. The same day, Lauren asked if I had a lantern that I could bring along for an idea she had, and they turned out to be very similar to each other! It turned out this concept was actually very fitting, as whilst we were shooting this in the quarry, Lauren told me one of the many Alderley Edge stories - of a man who'd ran away from his life as a scholar around the 1930s and come to live in the quarry, in a simple home he built himself out of stone slabs.
