Of Your World
I've been working on this photo basically none stop since 7pm (it's now 12:30am) and I'm so glad to say I think it's been worth it. I thought this photo up a few weeks ago when I was shooting in this same puddle and just knew I had to work out how to pull this shot off and then shoot it in the same location. I don't know why, something about it drew me to it - perhaps how it was on top of the hills close to my house in the middle of nowhere, with a view of the whole of Manchester behind it and the most beautiful clouds and mountains in the distance. I think the reason I knew I had to shoot this particular photo in it was because of general foul state it was in - it was full of slimy rocks and frogspawn, there were flies everywhere and when I stepped in it my foot sank into a good few inches of mud. I sort of liked the idea of such an awful thing that really was just a large puddle being able to transform someone into something new, adapting them for a life in the water, but at the same time it could be seen as polluting their body and ruining them. I'm not the best at expressing my ideas through words, but I hope that made some sort of sense.
My brother assisted me with this and I think he was too happy about me asking him to pour freezing water all over my hair from a huge coke bottle - I might put that outtake in the comments if I can find it.
