When the City Sleeps
Today I stood and stared out of my bedroom window for a good 10 - 15 minutes. It was around 4pm, and the sun was beginning to set, and everything I could see was covered in that beautiful blue haze, it looked like summer even though it's still winter and -5 degrees here. Despite this, I wanted to be outside in that tungsten hue, and that's how this photo was created.
It tends to be a pattern on most of my photos that I'll say "I've had this image in my head for a while" but I literally drew up my basic ideas for this photo yesterday, and even since then and creating it today the image and meaning has changed. It was originally very sinister and scary, but I wasn't in the mood for that today. I wanted to create something much more peaceful and really make my pose and meaning fit with the environment I chose. As I was walking to the park I shot this at, despite being on a main road, it was so peacefully silent. Same when I got to the park, whilst I was shooting, and walking home. So this photo's to celebrate the quietness, but not the eerie sort, the peaceful, happy sort that makes me appreciate everything around me so much more than usual. I did include the bloody nose, however, to fit with the icy wintry atmosphere ;)
I'm doing a print give away which there's still time to enter - if you'd like to all you need to do is comment either on this photo or on my Facebook page saying so - and if you know which print you'd like please let me know in your comment as I'm so interested to see what everyone wants in print form!
Oh and, of course, this photo was inspired completely by Brooke Shaden whom I admire so much! :D
One more thing! I wrote a blog post on the inspiration and shooting of this image!
