Explain to me, in layman's terms, exactly how this is the shortest path to ground...
  • blakeahs49 7y

how are you supoosed to avoid this one exactly? I guess don't bathe in old timey tubs.
  • David J Morgan 7y

blakeahs49 I think the message is; Don't defecate in an empty bath while fiddling with a live electro-tap.

No way!!!! Provided that the plumbing system is not bonded to the electrical ground this might happen. If it is bonded to the electrical ground then the fuse has been bipassed because it would have blown the moment the wire touched the water supply pipe. Too funny though. That will get her really clean! At least her colon will be!

....wait, no "mystery death box"...she's fine!!

The proper 1930 German solution to this problem is to attach a wire from the trolley ground cable outside the house and run it to the bathtub. Then wrap the household 220V current all around the bathtub to form a Faraday cage. Then you'll be safe for the most part.

I think the orange arrows are completely to blame here.
  • funkymirko 7y

Poor people n the 50s they dont had those good fuses we got today so you die easely..

Maybe this illustration was used in the KBR electrician's manual in Iraq. (Improperly grounded showers caused the electrocution deaths of several American soldiers. Basically an updated version of this.)

So, I suppose you have to have a gas leak and an actual spark to ignite the gas fired robot overlord water heater.
Seeing as how it's now electrically charged.

Remember, always check your home wiring for rat nibbles on the wire casings BEFORE you do anything electrical in the house.
    Especially bathe.

Good thing the plumbing doesn't have leaks or the doorknobs of the house would be electrified too.

At least we are showing some bathers sense here. The loofah basket hangs over the tub......no puddles on the floor.
And light fixtures well out of the bathers reach.
