Capital Area Cobra Club HDR

On New Years Day 2011, I was out walking around the National Mall waiting for some friends visiting from out of town to wake up when I saw 30-40 amazing sports cars cruise by. This year, being an older, wiser photographer, I decided I was going to find out where those cars were heading, meet them there, and take better pictures. After asking around about what kind of cars they were, Google let me to the right website...the Capital Area Cobra Club (CACC). They make this ride every New Years Day. They post their route and meeting times on their forum. This year, I met them during their stop at the Capitol Building and took quite a few pictures. It was a lot of fun.
My experience with the CACC illustrates the importance of planning ahead and knowing when to be somewhere to catch great photos. That's what I've tried to do with my PhotoTourism DC website. I added an event calendar that I add to when I hear about events like this. I'm trying to make it a resource for local and visiting photographers. If you hear of any events let me know.
