Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial HDR
This photo was included in a post on Greater Greater Washington.
With Hurricane Irene closing in on the mid-Atlantic I knew I would be trapped indoors most of this weekend. I wanted to have some photos to show for it so I packed up my photo bag and headed down to the MLK Memorial. I had planned on spending most of Sunday in and around the dedication ceremony for the Memorial but that was cancelled because of the weather. I arrived about 2 hours before sunset and paced around taking pictures. Most of those pictures were concentrated on capturing the 30 ft. statue of Dr. King from the waist up along with the beautiful sky to try and cut out the throngs of people that milled about around the base. Shortly before I left I switched to a wide-angle lens and found a relative break in the crowd to capture this shot. The sky is just brilliant.
