Danske Klejner (Kleiner)

Daily Shoot 29: "Show us some food you eat today, using DOF, perspective, or other tricks you've learned so far to make everyone hungry!"

It's a trifecta of recent Daily Shoot assignments: Christmas lights, bokeh & food!

My family has been making danish kleiners at Christmas for generations. In the 1940s, my great grandmother wrote a short "Essay on The Scandinavian Christmas" in which she said about her childhood in Copenhagen:

"Many delicious delicacies filled the pantry shelves for the Christmas week. A dainty prepared cookie called 'Danish Kleiners' fried in deep grease usually filled a 5 gal. container, which we treated neighbors and friends with."

It's about the same today. My sons help me make a huge batch, which we give to friends and neighbors (keeping plenty for ourselves!). They're great with or without powdered sugar.
