Sneaker Wave 4
When I first spotted this wave it was probably a half mile off shore, and I could still hear it roar. It was about 50 feet high and moving at high speed toward shore. I changed to a 600mm telephoto lens and was fortunate to have the camera tripod mounted at the time. I shot a series as it came across the sea toward me. The images are nothing special as to artistic merit but do capture the moment. On the coast these waves often catch folks by surprise and that is why they are called "sneaker waves". They are very dangerous. I was on a bluff hiding behind my tele. lens.
