Eastern Screech Owl ~ Gray Morph

    Newer Older

    View On Black

The Lenape Indians (Native American) believed that if they dreamt of an Owl it would become their guardian.

I've had Screech Owls around my backyard owl box for at least a week. One's a red morph and this one, a gray morph. I finally got a decent shot of this one by calling him in with an electronic call. This morning at 4am, it landed on my graden cucumber trellis which consists of an old wooden deck umbrella; canvas top removed and turned upside-down!

Steve Vetter, Missi Gregorius, and 27 other people added this photo to their favorites.

Fantastic shot. I should try an owl box. Maybe I'll have better luck than I did with a bat house I made and put up about 10 years ago. Never got one bat. I even asked a naturalist who was over one day and he couldn't explain why they didn't use it. He suggested I move it to the other side of the building it was on and that didn't help. Glad your owl box works. Hope you get many more great shots.

Great shot. It looks unafraid but a bit less wise than an owl should. Perhaps it wonders who exchanged the calling other owl into that wingless wonder with the black box at the eye...

William Dear friend, this photo of these beautiful secuecia owls is very impressive and spectacular. Which is not really the best picture, but all are of exquisite quality, full of beautiful colors, good frame, a high degree of focus, excellent composition and good shutter angle.
I have no doubt that birds talk to them and pose for you in every way. That you are special, wonderful photographer who can freeze forever so elegant and beautiful images to enjoy ourselves.
My sincere congratulations and thanks for being my teacher and friend.
Wholeheartedly embrace your friend Cimarron mayor Panta
