Bob Dylan, une biographie
François Bon, born in 1953 in Vendée (France).
He became a writer in 1982 with his first book : Sortie d'Usine (Exit from factory)
Then he wrote : "Rolling Stones, a biography", "Rock'n roll, a portrait of Led Zeppelin" and "Bob Dylan, a biography".
I bought Bob Dylan first record in France in 1964 (well, about 64).
Thanks to my best friend Gene, I had listened to Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Cisco Houston, Pete Seeger and I was very interested by this kind of music.
Bob was in the continuation of this culture, writing his own songs, singing with this strange voice, he was so different from all the other clean and nice singers of this time !
At the same time, I fell in love with Joan Baez but I did not know she and Bob were lovers. In France, we had few information about american singers' lives (and we did not care)..... The "PEOPLE's gossips" did not yet exist. Though I could not quite understand what Bob was singing, I used to love his world and his personnality. As for Joan, her voice was so pure, her accent was so clear that I had tried to write the words because the stories she was singing were very interesting for me. Later, I could find a book with the songs of her two or three first records.
The other night, as I could not sleep, I listened to singers on Youtube and I fell on Joan Baez. All my youth came back to me with sweet souvenirs of another time lost forever. Then, I went on listening Joan, Bob, and again Joan and Bob....... I just wondered that I did not know Bob's life and I found this book, Bob Dylan, a biography. When Joan wrote her biography, in the 80ies, I bought the translation in France but I remembered I was so disapointed that I gave the book to charity but now, I would like to read it again but it's not possible : it has not be printed again.
I'm in the sixties for a while, Folks :-)
