Boston-College Ireland 2012 Summer Interns

A group of summer interns at Boston College-Ireland joined Academic Director Mike Cronin, Head of Programmes Thea Gilien and Programmes Manager Claire McGowan for an Independence Day celebration at the U.S. Embassy in Dublin July 4th. The event included the third annual Irish American Flag Football Classic, as well as a picnic and other activities for families.

Each year, BC-Ireland offers eight-week unpaid internships within several sectors of Irish society. Host organizations include federal and local governmental departments as well as commercial and non-profit institutions. During their stay, students have the opportunity to travel throughout Ireland and Europe.

This year's interns include Sean Hegarty of Delta Partners Venture Capital, Lee Hill of the Department of Justice Garda Inspectorate, and Kayti Lahsaiezadeh of social media marketing and PR firm Vocal.ie. The interns each volunteered for a few hours in the 'Kids Zone' area of the celebration before joining the festivities' other guests, including Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Ambassador Dan Rooney, and BC-Ireland board member and company solicitor Eoghan Clear.
