RIO DE JANEIRO (July 24, 2013) - On their fifth day in Rio, the pilgrims took part in the official program for World Youth Day, including English-language catechesis with Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York, and then a variety of program activities in the afternoon, and an optional concert in the evening with Matt Maher.



More than 160 pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Boston are traveling to World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between July 20 and 29, 2013, along with millions of youth from around the world, Pope Francis, and their own Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley, OFM Cap, Archbishop of Boston.


George Martell of Pilot New Media is traveling with the pilgrims to send back photos, YouTube videos, social media updates, and even real-time streaming video so that those who can't attend in person may be virtual pilgrims. Follow the pilgrimage at
