Description: Bunker Hill Monument. Work remained suspended until the Ladies Fair in 1840, and five thousand dollar gifts from two prominent citizens started the work again. The two and a half ton capstone was set in place in July, 1842. Reproduced from a drawing in Boston Athenaeum by E. H. Cameron in "Of Yankee Granite", 1953.
