091221 Holiday Sketchbook

    Newer Older

Getting ahead of myself.... I still have one day at work to get through but I just wanted to get the title page done so I can start my holiday sketchbook the moment I leave work (if I want to that is!)
I think that I will use my Daniel Smith paints and really get to know them - having said that the burnt and raw siennas have been replaced with W7N since the DS ones I got I just can't use. Also that French Ultramarine will need filling up.

Funny that in the last 6 months or so I noticed that I really tunnel a hole in the centre of the pans.

BTW I drew this palette huge size to go to the edge of the page... it is jumping out me and saying "paint paint!!"

Dona Minúcia, barbaraluel, and 5 other people added this photo to their favorites.

Beautful colors! I like them on the page edge, reminding you to paint.

It is always scary and calming when your supplies are talking to you.

WOW....a wonderful start! It says BAM! A very creative first page.
Interesting how some paints we love and others we can't use. A friend of mine uses 6 colors WN and that is it. Never changes. LOL...it is cheaper this way. It is good to get to know your paints.
Wishing you a happy holiday and looking forward to seeing your journal.

Wonderful pages . . . so I get that you don't like the Daniel Smith burnt and raw siennas? I am making note of that information, as I have never tried them . . .this is good to know!

You know its holidays when you start doing a colour page. The ink shading really adds something to it!

Oh, YUM, what a great inspiration to jump right in there!

And I don't like the DS colors you name, or their burnt umber, or indigo. They seem dead to me, though I love a lot of their others!

I LOVE DS Quin. Sienna... it is my favorite.... I like almost all the DS colors I've tried except undersea green... it is 'dead' looking (good description Kate).

thanks elaine - that is one of the colours I want to try.
The main difference is that the DS Burnt and raw sienna are actually different pigments and also more opaque than the W&N
      Any other suggestions welcome!
