Dunstanburgh an Ancient Runway

Owned by the National Trust and in the care of English Heritage.

Dunstanburgh Castle lies on a spectacular headland on the coast of Northumberland in northern England,

between the villages of Craster and Embleton.

It was started in 1313 by Earl Thomas of Lancaster.

It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade I listed building,

and lies within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

I would bet these Geese are landing in the same area as there ancestors once touched down.

Turner painted Dunstanburgh many times, usually rising at dawn to do so.

I can understand why, Ive been visiting this area regularly for years, and each time its different.

Dunstanburgh Castle is there to be taken home with you, either on Canvas,Film,Paper, or in this case Memory Card.
