Kashmir Paisley mandorla

    Prev Next

Coton a broder and some silk threads on perriwinkle cotton. Mainly satin stitch, with some blanket, seeding and knot stitches. 14 X 20 inches.
I've had this lying unfinished for years...I finally finished it on the boat the other day. And now I know what I'm going to do with it, too! Making a fabulous hippy shoulder bag...

Update: mom insisted it's too good to be used as a bag, and asked me to give it to her. Now it's probably rotting away in a drawer, another 'treasured' keepsake. Meh.

04/2011 Update: Bah, so now my mother tells me this piece has gone 'missing'. Possibly taken by the ex-sister in law when the marriage fell apart. What a waste (the embroidery, not the relationship! ;) )

      Hey, thanks very much!
It was a kind of colour hedonism for me...I probably used every shade of thread I had.
Your comments are great encouragement, thanks again.

Those days seem over for me, too... this one only took me 14 years! :) I got started, worked on it like mad, then lost interest, so it sat in a sewing basket for a lot of that time. I don't know if I could do it again, even if I wanted to. I was a different person then...
I am quite proud of it, but also a little scared that this may end up being the definitive piece of my life!? I need to make something else! Maybe I should "get me to a nunnery"?

One more viewer to count into your exuberant. Oh, how wonderful - the embroiderie. I came across through Nutmeg - the little tailless bird. I adore it like that.
