The First 2,590 COMMENTS on Obama's Weekly Address

    Newer Older

I love YouTube comments, Obama, and Wordle, so I made this graph of the most common words used in the first 22 hours of comments on Obama's first weekly address on youtube as president. I used the Wordle visualization tool to make it, with 75,874 words, which is almost a full book by people from all over the world. Not saying it’s anything like a book but it is a fascinating amount of data in such a short period of time for something political. Of course most of the comments are crap turds, but there are some thoughtful, intelligent, and moving discourses as well. I removed the additional common words, “government, obama, president, get, and America,” in addition to wordle’s removal of common words. I just thought those words weren’t that interesting.

Hitler and ROFL apparently were common terms. I initially thought these were words from the actual address though, which thankfully they were not.
