My old boots
I took out the laces – they still had plenty of life in them – and pondered the time I'd spent walking in this brilliant boots. The West Highland Way. Two thirds of the Pennine Way. The Queyras Alps in France. They'd been up mountains in Norway, on hills in Iceland. Round the Peak District. On countless outings from the Time Out Book of Country Walks. And now the Cumbria Way.
