This postcard was mailed onboard a train. It is datelined McAllen, Texas in September 1916. This was the period during which the National Guard soldiers were stationed along the Mexican border. The writer hopes to be sent home soon. Too soon, they would be activated for the First World War into the regular U. S. Army.
The RPO (Railway Post Office) cancellation indicates that the letter was mailed, and handled onboard the train.
