Birds and Seals on Island Near Ushuaia, Argentina
A view of an island along the Beagle Channel, south of Ushuaia, Terra del Fuego, Argentina. These birds were described to us as Rock Cormorants, but they really may be Imperial Shag (it seems that rock cormorants have red around their eyes, and have all-black heads). They share the island with gulls and some sea lions.
Because of their coloring, they could be easily mistaken for penguins, but these birds fly!
