Barbie in Guildford

For a while, Guildford was served by First - making it one of the few places in the UK where you could see "the big three" running side by side - in the same street even.

First Berkshire ran the Ride Pegasus! school bus scheme on behalf of Surrey CC, using an outstation at SCC's site in Merrow.

When the Merrow park and ride started in September 2008, First ran the contract. They used the Pegasus school buses mostly, but when they were all out doing school work, other buses had to be used - two Mini Pointer Darts had to be kept for peak hour use only.

So First's corporate Barbie livery did make Guildford, as illustrated here by DMM43835 (W935 JNF) in Commercial Road, Guildford. On this day, 43834 was also in use. Latterly, I believe only one spare Barbie bus was kept at Merrow outstation.

Of course, the Pegasus school bus scheme has now ended, and Safeguard now run the 300 Merrow park and ride.

Commercial Road, Guildford, Surrey.
