Winter Trees | by Bob AuBuchon

Winter Trees

Gathered hillside you take your stand

Covered in garments of snow so grand

Bough of branches reaching high and low

You dance and sway to the winds below

This vestige of time is but a passing day

The bittersweet of winter soon melts away

Springing up you prove yourself true

Leaving winter as a thing only to outdo

I watch you from some time away

Wondering what will be my stay

Will I be seasoned too in shades so dark

To bow and bend in times embark?

Gathered hillside in these winter trees

I see there’s little hope for one like me

Who’s covered now in winter’s snow of age

To spring no more in passing times engage

Winter trees live on and in this life so grand

Dance for another who comes to stand

To watch you where I stood today

Knowing their life too will pass this way
