Portland Pastels

it must have been in the 20s freezing cold when we were here last month. we got so lucky with the light that the sky turned into a bed of fluffy colors. the sun did peek out a little bit to produce these pastels and the show was all over in a matter of minutes.

geek note: we did see one guy climb down the rocks this morning trying to shoot towards the direction of the sun (opposite this scene). well he was so disappointed because after an hour or so there was barely anything interesting in that direction. one thing i have learned shooting out is that you will rarely get what you want and you'll need to always be on the lookout for the shot even though it is not what you came there for. while this was not my preferred angle to get this frame, this was my only choice at the time because the cloud color was best in this direction. poor guy, had he just looked up the sky he would have known what to do. :)
