Arcadia United Methodist Church

I wasn't even church hunting this day, but I just couldn't resist that cloud in the background.

~*~*~*~*~*~

I was looking for the remains of what was once the "Kentucky Road." I read it was still visible in an area beside the cemetery here. I was disappointed to find construction in back of the church had destroyed or obscured any evidence of the old road.

Sometimes flickr friends will make comments on my photos such as, "You should put these in a book." I never thought seriously about it until recently. Why not?

Once I decided to do it, the next step was selecting a subject. Churches? Houses? Barns? Roads? Historical places? All of the above? But what do they have in common? What theme could I use to tie them all together? I chose the Wilderness Road.

I'm going to do it . . . I'm really going to write a book with some history of, and images from, the Wilderness Road from Kingsport, Tennessee, to Cumberland Gap. Wish me luck!
