RIP Showman's League Building.

    Newer Older

The Showman's League Building was built in the 1870's as a hotel for touring circus workers. It was actually standing just two days ago but was in the process of being town down during our tour. Also gone, Harry's Hot Dogs. This corner was supposed to be replaced by buildings, but is now set to be a plaza/park.

I was by there on Friday and it looked like they had just started on the corner building...they didn't waste any time, did they? Sheeeash...

I regret missing the FC tour--I tried to sign up but it was filled just a few days after they announced it. Looks like it was a good time.

Jesus...they didn't waste any time is right. 1870's? Whatever Chicago.

I don't think it was ever slated for buildings, actually. The park was always the plan, to make the office building more valuable. At taxpayer expense.

Thanks for the clarification BWC and Noah! I had heard mixed about this things for a while but failed to look up the definitive plan before i posted this...and I hadn't read Lynn's blog post yet. He's always so on top of things...
