The Crucifixion

Trembling on a high hill / wind-tossed and closed

hanging-Christ / with dead eyes

sees no star / which has light,

clings to nothing / but sorrow-banner

held high, clings to / nothing but cold blast

baring frailty / that feels nothing,

not wind, nor hunger, light / or thought can feel

nothing but pain, / this pain will quiver

to this hill, how long? / He will, yes,

broken only by His / sighs, forsaken, why

hast Thou, God, / why? shall linger

this question on / but not bound

unanswered the wind / roars, must say Son,

for Son forgives His / sins, too, cries

for quivering pain / of Ours, shall wash

away this storm, / this blood shall

flow throughout.
