Kyudo - Way of the Bow 1930s

The Yumi (Japanese Bow) is an asymmetrical longbow over two metres in height that is traditionally made of bamboo, wood and leather, while the Ya (arrows) of this period have bamboo shafts with eagle or hawk feather fletchings. Practiced for centuries as both a Gendai budo (Martial Art) and a form of Zen meditation, the sport of Kyudo is still widely studied throughout Japan.
