Three Sisters Fountain, Katoomba

Notes: The Three Sisters Water Sculpture at the Scenic Skyway and Railway was built as a tourist attraction and also raised money to aid The Blue Mountains Handicapped Childrens' Centre. It was floodlit at night and a 20c coin in the slot produced the spoken legend.

The fountain was commissioned in 1966 and installed 1967. It was the work of Sydney sculptor Lyall Randolph Williams who also made the mermaids on Ben Buckler at Bondi. The larger figure was 7 ft tall and weighed half a ton.

This image shows the plaques on the wall of the pool illustrating the legend. The fountain below the larger figure appears to be non-operational.

It was removed as part of the Scenic World redevelopment in 2004.
