Okehampton station (1), 1975

The station was opened in 1871 by the LWSR and closed in 1972. Funnily enough it was not listed for closure in the Beeching Report of 1963 but falling revenues caused it to be closed later. The line remained open for stone traffic from Meldon Quarry.

Heritage trains are run on the line at present as far as Meldon but there is a possibility that it might be reopened in the future to link up with the existing line at Bere Alston.
