So a couple weeks ago I finally got in touch with my biological family and some long-held questions are at last being answered.
For the last 16 years I've known, or had been told, that I had Hispanic heritage and had gotten used to that, even answering Census, employment, and health forms to that effect. However, I never once suspected that I might also have Native American ancestry as well.
But, it seems, I do (though I'm likely more Caucasian than anything else). What to do with this information is unclear at this point, but I suspect I my get my DNA tested at some point for some sort of objective documentation.
Anyhow, I've passed my this graffiti stencil several times since arriving in Bellingham, noticing it, but never really paying attention. At least, not until last week. Armed with this new information, naturally, I saw this tag in a new light. I had to shoot it.
This image probably represents a Nooksack tribe member, or some other tribe indigenous to the Pacific Northwest.
