Electric Spider (Explore)
A spider on my neighbor's Jeep catches my eye every time I drive by. The Jeep is disabled due for some forgettable reason, and the spider's made himself a nice little home and, camping-out off the side view mirror for weeks.
So tonight I decided to shoot him with my LED flashlight.
Sadly, none of the photos I took were usable, really. The shots were either blurry, out of focus, or almost in focus, but sharp on exactly the wrong spot. (Lousy point-and-shoot!)
I nearly discarded this photo when wondered how it might look with an "infrared" treatment. The infrared filter on my Paint Shop Pro adds grain and glow. So I went further, using local contrast enhancement to bring up the shadows a bit more. Then I took the original layer again and increased the saturation as high as I could go. I applied a generous Gaussian blur to that layer and used the result to "colorize" the black and white layer. After fiddling with a few versions of the glowing blurred layer I arrived at this shot.
Not a great shot, but Interesting enough to keep. :)
