Canon A-1 with FD 35mm 1:2 SSC and a perfect companion, the FD 135mm 1:2.5 SC
Proud to present this newly acquired Canon SLR for my collection :)
Canon A-1 + Canon FD 35mm 1:2 S.S.C
Canon FD 135mm 1:2.5 S.C
Quite big for a 35mm lens even with fast F2 aperture, but it's the old breech-lock FD. And also note that this is the highly appreciated version recognized by the concave front lens element and the radiated thorium yellow (dis)coloring. No more warm filter needed but radiation glasses are advised ;). The yellow is noticeable even looking through the finder, but this 'feature' indicates that it's that particular version that is known to be the sharpest, and i don't mind the warm tone. (google for more info!). Also love how close you can get with 0.3m close focus. Unlike the 135mm with its 1.5m not-so-close focus, but that however is a damn nice, sharp and fast portrait lens.
The A-1 sure is an upgrade from the AE-1 Program. I really did not like the shutter priority. But having aperture priority on this one makes it so much more fun and easy to work with, and all that's left to do is focus. Just ran through a film testing both lenses and it was most fun. Shutter squeak to be fixed some time later maybe, or i'll just buy another one because why not !
