Volunteer Seedling Planting
On March 31, 2012 more than 30 volunteers spent their Saturday planting approximately 4,000 sagebrush and bitterbrush seedlings in an area not frequented by humans, but an important mule deer migration corridor. This area, north of Battle Mountain, was burned in the 2011 Izzenhood fire. The volunteers came from Battle Mountain, Elko and Winnemucca and represented BLM, Nevada Department of Wildlife and Nevada Muleys, a non-profit organization dedicated to perserving mule deer and their habitat.
