Utilities and Energy in the California Desert

The 25-million-acre California Desert Conservation Area (CDCA) contains over 12 million acres of public lands. Congress enacted the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 (FLPMA) which directed BLM to inventory CDCA resources and to prepare a comprehensive land-use management plan for the area. The original CDCA plan was completed in 1980 and a reprint completed in 1999. These lands are within the CDCA.
