Those days I was not always on guard, hyper alert while walking on the street. Almost like this incident taught me a lesson- be weary of any stranger walking towards you- if you're not you just might be groped, assaulted. It's a shame really that all it is ME who has to be more careful and self protected rather than us really looking at the city- why can't the city be safer?

I was walking. I was on the phone. I can't remember who i was talking to. I noticed 2 men walking towards me and before I knew it one of them groped my left breast and walked off. I stood there silent and shocked. An unfamiliar voice came out of me- I screamed- STOP! I turned and walked faster towards him. He and his companion walked faster signaling that I was drunk and crazy. I walked faster and he ran faster. I ran to the auto rickshaw drivers asking them for help. They said " bhaag gaya" / "he ran away"

I came home and tore those clothes. I felt sick.

I hate that those 2 men have cautioned me against all men on the street. I hate that they make me mistrust others. I hate that the auto drivers did not help me.
