Sea Island Milky Way

    Newer Older

The Milky Way rises over the beach and ocean at Sea Island, Georgia. The palm trees on the right are along the cart path between the 17th and 18th holes at Ocean Forest, Sea Island, which is one of the top 100 golf courses in the world.

The light pollution seen behind the palm trees is from Sea Island and St. Simons Island. It silhouettes the trees, which was unplanned but a nice addition to the photo I think.

From my book, Sea Island at Night.

Very nicely done! Good rendition of the Milky Way plus an interesting dynamic composition with the Milky Way and palm trees visually aligning plus a good foreground--hard to beat all that.

What an incredible image Blake. I've tried myself to capture the Milky Way here on Hilton Head with high ISO settings on my 5D but to no success. Perhaps it's the level of light pollution now on this island as compared to others. Fantastic portfolio.
