Gadberry Park, El Reno, Oklahoma
It's just a small park/playground in the middle of a residential area, but it's a slice of yesteryear, when kids didn't have playdates. Instead, their mothers would shoo them out the door to the neighborhood gathering places until they were called in for bed or a meal. In the meantime, these places would be transformed into any place our imaginations could take us and, to a large extent, we were its rulers, free from many adult rules. We learned our social skills here so we didn't have to be taught them in a classroom.
