Built in 1978 of stone and painted white, the lighthouse was converted to Automatic Acetylene Operation in 1928 and demanned. In June 1972 it was converted to Mains Electricity operation. The light has a range of 16 Nautical Miles.

The Pilot Station formerly asscociated with the lighthouse was closed in 1960 owing to the demise of the shipping industry at that time.
It was demolished but I am unable to find out at this time what year that occurred.
