In front of a restaurant in Halls Gap, Grampians National Park, Victoria, Australia


In January 2006, a major bushfire, the Mt Lubra Fire, destroyed roughly half the area of the Grampians National Park in Victoria. Two people, father & son, died in the fire, it burned 130,000 hectares, destroyed 40 dwellings, 72 sheds, 62,400 sheep.


Two months later, I got the chance to visit the surroundings of Halls Gap in the Grampians. Despite all the devastation, it was a fascinating place to be - one could actually watch nature recovering from the fire.


In this "Grampians - After The Fire" series some shots from that trip can be seen. This shot will conclude this mini-series ...
