Halftone Gradient GIMP Tutorial

 

1. click FILE > NEW, choose TEMPLATE 1024x768, click OK

2. click on the foreground color box in the tool box and choose a bright yellow. click on the background color box in the tool box and choose a reddish purple.

3. click EDIT > FILL WITH BG COLOR

4. click LAYER > NEW LAYER

5. click the gradient tool in the tool box

6. click and drag your mouse from the top right of the image window to the bottom left to create a gradient of yellow to red diagonally across the image.

7. click FILTERS > DISTORTS > NEWSPRINT, under SCREEN choose INTENSITY

8. set CELL SIZE to 40, OVERSAMPLE to 5, click OK

9. right click the "NEW LAYER" in the layers palette, choose ALPHA TO SELECTION

10. click EDIT > FILL WITH FG COLOR

11. click SELECT > NONE

12. click LAYER > MERGE DOWN
