National Science and Engineering Week

The Science and Technology Facilities Council’s travelling exhibition comes to 1 Victoria Street at BIS, where there will be a cosmic ray detector waiting in reception for London visitors.

The launch of National Science and Engineering Week is a chance for the public to see science, technology and engineering up close at over 1000 events across the UK between 9 and 18 March.

Vince Cable kicked off the week during a visit to Newcastle’s Centre for Life to launch Newcastle Science Fest 2012.

The Week is co-ordinated by the British Science Association in partnership with Engineering UK and culminates with the Big Bang Fair, a unique celebration of science and engineering for young people at the NEC in Birmingham between 15 and 17 March.

The theme for the week is ‘Our World in Motion’, covering a wide range of scientific interest from the movement of the planet, to travel to sport.

Dr Cable also announced the awarding of a new contract to manage BIS’s Sciencewise Expert Resource Centre for Public Dialogue in Science and Innovation.
