Austin Atlantic
Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery's Austin Atlantic on display at the Classic Car Show.

In 1949 this Austin A90 Atlantic drove continuously for 7 days and nights, taking 63 American stock car records.

This car is an absolutely standard 'stock' car and was taken to Indianapolis Speedway to make the first British attempt on the American National Stock Car Records.

With three drivers, Alan Hess, Charles Goodacre and Dennis Buckley the car covered 11,850 miles at an average speed of 70.54 miles per hour. Stops were only made for refueling, servicing and changing drivers.
